Hey there

Abby and Zach opted for an intimate lakeside Washington wedding when they had to abruptly change course after the global pandemic hit. They had been planning a beautiful wedding celebration at Semiahmoo Resort in June of 2020, but in March they quickly realized things may not go as planned, as lockdowns were going into effect across the United States.

Pushing their big celebration to 2021, these two opted for an intimate wedding on their original date. Along the lakeside of Abby’s childhood home in Lake Stevens, Washington, Abby and Zach gathered their closest of close family and friends.

It was the rainiest day in June, with rain clouds looming at the very start of the morning. Small dry pockets throughout the day offered enough relief that we were able to capture portraits outdoors, with the help of cute clear umbrellas.

Thank goodness Abby and Zach rented a tent for their ceremony to offer shade for their guests. Instead it was the perfect protection from the downpour. With the background pitter patter of rain drops above, Abby’s sister sang for them, with tears streaming down her face. It was such a beautiful and intimate moment to witness.

The rain also caused a second course correction, bringing their reception inside. But the family room with vaulted ceilings and large windows overlooking the lake tied together the design – light blue linens with wood elements, complimenting the florals of ivory, blush, peach and pops of pale blue.

We waited and watched wondering when we’d be able to get outside for family photos. And the moment came at the very end of the day. As the light quickly faded, Abby and Zach had their first dance under the string lights just as they had hoped. The rain started picking up again and these two could not be bothered by it. After all the curveballs thrown at them, they adjusted and persisted with positive attitudes, and had the wedding day exactly as it was meant to be. This lakeside Washington wedding was beautifully intimate, full of tender moments, with love abound, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for these two.

Congratulations Zach and Abby! You have been so wonderful to work with, and we cannot wait for your vow renewal bash next year!
